Gym to Crag
April 10th, 7-8 PM
The shift from gym to crag can be intimidating but it’s incredibly rewarding when you discover new destinations like Rattlesnake, Metcalfe, and more.
This session will prepare you for topics such as outdoor ethics, crag access, essential equipment, and risk management. Insights into local crags and community events will be shared, along with resources for guided courses if you wish to continue your journey with On The Rocks. Expand your horizons!

ANCHOR BUILDING THEORY
April 24th, 7-8 PM
Anchor building requires a deep understanding of safety principles. Consider the necessary equipment and the assessment of anchor geometry, redundancy, and equalization.
While not a full-course, demonstrations will illustrate how anchor systems work and evaluate different techniques. Learn the best method for various situations, and how to use your equipment properly, including rope, slings, and carabiners.

INTRO TO RAPPELLING
May 8, 7-8 PM
Rappelling can sometimes be the best or only way down from a route, or crucial to reaching isolated routes with no walk-off or trail access. Lion’s Head is a great example.
Get introduced to key concepts such as equipment, common hazards, basic setup, and safety precautions. Confidence in technical skills will allow for a smooth and controlled descent. Rappelling isn’t just a way down, but also admired as an adventure of its own. Seek the thrill.

BELAY STATION MANAGEMENT
May 22, 7-8PM
Efficiency can save yourself time and frustration. Multi-pitch routes require effective strategies that conserve your mental and physical capacity for the climb.
Climbers will be presented several techniques including planning the belay, managing one or two ropes, and transferring the belay and equipment efficiently. Multi-pitch experience is recommended, as the session is time-limited and geared towards specific topics.
Spaces are limited. Click the courses above to register at ontherocksclimbing.com. We hope to see you there!
